Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017, and quickly became the top-streamed track within 6 months. It was a combination of pop and reggaeton that attracted attention to Latin Music but as well reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish predominantly, as well as four in the year 2016. In the height of Despacito's success in 2017, 19 tracks primarily composed in Spanish reached the top 100. The number grew to 41 by 2020. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) popular musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna together with Maluma on Medellin (2019). The musician incorporated electronic dance music and other genres into his songs.
